Terms of Use

Last updated 19 August 2026

These terms govern your use of PentNotes (“the service”). By creating an account, you agree to them.

What PentNotes is

PentNotes is a documentation and note-taking workspace for security engagements — structured notes, a network-mapping canvas, and a host inventory. It is a record-keeping tool. It does not perform scanning, exploitation, or any testing activity itself.

Authorized use only

You're responsible for making sure any engagement, target, or system you document in PentNotes was tested with proper authorization. Don't use this service to store or organize information related to unauthorized access to systems you don't own or don't have explicit permission to test.

Your account

You're responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your login credentials secure. Let us know if you believe your account has been compromised.

Your content

You own the notes, engagement data, and files you create in PentNotes. We don't claim any rights to it beyond what's needed to store it and display it back to you. See our Privacy Policy for how it's handled.

Acceptable use

Don't use PentNotes to:

  • Store or share content related to unauthorized system access.
  • Attempt to access another user's account or data.
  • Disrupt or overload the service.
  • Use the service for anything unlawful.

No warranty

PentNotes is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. It's under active development, and features, availability, or behavior may change. Keep your own backups of anything critical.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, PentNotes and its operators aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including loss of data.

Termination

You can stop using PentNotes and request deletion of your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change materially, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
